Youth Empowerment
The young people are facing various problems at their workplace and living environment and these problems are to be taken care of with special care and adequate guidance should be provided to ensure the that there is no mental and physical breakdown in the smooth flow of life. Further, the group activities are also initiated to meet the requirements of the unemployed youth and thereby they can support the families through a regular income. Initiatives such as counselling centres and self-help groups are formulated by SMECS Kerala to meet the purpose.
Skill Development
Inclusive education is when all students, no matter what the challenges are, are placed inclusive classrooms suitable to their age while receiving the same instruction, interventions, and supports that enable them to meet success in the core curriculum as their nondisabled peers.SMECS Trust for the Disabled is an NGO working for child education and advocates the principle that students with disabilities are as fundamentally capable as their nondisabled peers.
Total Rural Management
Rural Management refers to the study of rural economy, agribusiness, planning, organising and maintaining co-operatives and businesses in rural areas and related fields. This field offers a wide range of career opportunities for those who wish to improve the agriculture sector of the country and make it a major contributor in the economy beyond farming. Today, every sector in India is using advanced technology for effective use of resources to improve quality and production. It is only the agriculture sector, which is lagging behind. Rural Management courses offer the latest techniques and methodologies, which will greatly contribute to the improvement of the sector.
Agriculture & Animal Husbandary
The most detrimental factor to their livelihoods is failed crop cycles due to drought, disease, poor seed quality, or any other number of circumstances. Crop failure leaves farmers without food to feed themselves or sell in the market. It also greatly reduces the availability of fodder for their livestock, thus extending the negative impact. The introduction of commercial seeds, unsustainable irrigation techniques, and chemical fertilizers and pesticides have only worsened the situation as these practices reduce soil fertility.Low yields also result in an increase of farmers forced to migrate bringing undue stress on the women and children of the family who are left at home to fend for themselves. In other cases, family members are forced to seek out wage labourer in the health hazardous stone mines where the working conditions greatly increase the risk of occupational lung diseases such as silicosis and tuberculosis.
